how can i learn to build?
i would like to be able to build just about anything. like things from furniture to buildings like small sheds and maybe even one day houses. ( i would also like to learn to wire electricity in the buildings)
thing is i am only 15 and have no real experience. so how can i an inexperienced minor learn to build.
i'm not sure if i would like it to be my career its just you could gain a lot of skills from knowing how to build. my dream is to have a huge piece of land and own a house of good quality built by none other than myself.
also if you don't mind please answer my other question to.

If you can read or learn from others, just start by asking questions. If you are shy, go to the library or online. I went to a Community College library up the street that had a program of continuing education in the building trades. There were hundreds of good books showing the basics and details of building design, construction, troubleshooting, remodeling, etc. There is furniture making, wooden structures, metal structures, plumbing, electrical wiring, heating and airconditioning, landscaping, etc.
If you have a methodical thinking mind and read some of these books, the next thing is having somewhere to work on projects (start small). Skills and knowledge are good, but if you don't have good tools and materials, you won't get far.
I would suggest reading some books first, then taking shop courses in school if they offer them. If they don't, find a friend or relative who does this sort of thing or knows someone who does and see if you can get a part time job helping them and then do your best to learn all they know by observing and asking questions.
Probably most of the small remodelers or builders learned their trade mostly by working for someone else. Be polite and if you find someone who always did something a certain way and you find a better way either by reading, or school, adapt your own style that works best.
I always like to do woodworking and built things as a hobby. I was very mediocre at it but learned a lot from books and other people. I learned a lot from good trades people while working as a volunteer on charitable help projects. You could learn a lot by volunteering with Habitat for Humanity, or a Church group that does home repair help projects.
After I retired, I found that I could remodel my own home, designed and built a large workshop in my backyard, did all the carpentry, roofing, painting, wiring, and air conditioning and went through the necessary city building permit inspections. I used the library quite a bit to get best ways of building to meet building and electrical codes.
You can do it on your own but will make a lot of mistakes. Learning in a school envirornment is recommended while you are eligible by age. You could go to a trade school or college. The alternate that many of the people out there working just started out working with someone as a helper and observing while doing the dirty cleanup work.
If you have the desire and make that your goal you will do very well, but it takes time and patience.
Good luck to you.
