I need help with growing my own?
I'd love to grow my own tomatoes, Carrots , and potatoes. But the problem is i have a very small garden, with only about 5 metres greenery, yet the soil there is very dry like dirt; and i have a dog. Would i still be able to grow soil plants? and if so how? Also with tomatoes can i grow them inside a shed with windows? Or do they have to be outside? Please also can u tell me tips for growing and the seasons best for growing. Thankyou x
FIRST DETAILED ANSWER + 10POINTS
Depending on your location, as soon as the last warning of frost is over, start your garden. The first thing you do is dig in some peat moss for drainage. For the potatoes, place the seed potato on the soil and pull a mound of soil around it (about 2 feet in diameter). The potatoes will actually help to amend the soil also so you may want to just plant potatoes the first year and save the rest for future years. Tomatoes need bees to pollinate the flowers. There are other methods but they are iffy. If you stake the tomatoes they don't take up too much room. Carrots don't take up too much room but are very tiny seed and would have to be thinned as they start to grow unless you are really anal and can plant them a seed at a time. Happy gardening!
